The MAX7219 Breakout System, originally designed by @Stephan & @pizman – allows you to drive up to 8 seven segment displays, up to 32 digits in total. The wiring system lets you split each MAX7219 into two smaller displays (like heading or course) or have one larger one, up to 6 digits (radio frequency, or altitude preselect, for example).
